Enbridge Gas Program

Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebate Ontario

The Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebate (HER) program provides Ontario natural gas customers with rebates on insulation, smart thermostats, furnaces, and other efficiency upgrades. It overlaps with the HRS Program in some areas but covers distinct measures in others — making it a valuable complement for homeowners completing multiple upgrades.

What does the Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebate cover?

Enbridge Gas administers both the provincial HRS Program and its own Home Efficiency Rebate (HER) program. The HER program runs somewhat independently and covers a range of measures — some of which do not require the pre-retrofit EnerGuide audit that is mandatory for HRS rebates.

This makes it particularly useful for homeowners who want to proceed with certain upgrades quickly, or for those who have already completed some improvements and missed the pre-retrofit audit window for HRS.

When to use HER vs HRS Program

The HRS Program generally offers higher maximums and is ideal for major retrofits (heat pumps, wall insulation, comprehensive air sealing). The HER program is useful for standalone upgrades like insulation top-ups, furnace replacements, or smart thermostat installs that don't warrant a full pre-retrofit audit process. We map the best combination for each home.

How to apply for Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebates

Applications are submitted through the Enbridge online rebate portal. For most measures, the process is straightforward:

  • Complete the eligible upgrade with a qualified contractor
  • Retain the contractor invoice with equipment specifications
  • Submit the rebate application online within 90 days of completion
  • Upload supporting documentation (invoice, product spec sheets)

For measures that overlap with the HRS Program, timing and documentation requirements are more complex. We handle the coordination to ensure you capture the maximum combined rebate.

Who is eligible?

  • Owner-occupied residential properties with natural gas service from Enbridge
  • Upgrades completed by licensed, qualified contractors
  • Equipment that meets program efficiency specifications
  • Applications submitted within the program's claim window after completion

Tenants and landlords should confirm eligibility requirements — some measures have specific rules about who can claim when the property is rented.

Capture every dollar you're entitled to.

The Enbridge and HRS programs overlap in ways that most homeowners miss. We map the full combination before any work begins.
